The agates from inalnd Marlborough come from the Middlehurst and Upcote Stations. This is extremely rugged and mountainous country. Occasionally an agate will make its way to the Awatere River where it awaits the lucky collector. The agates are mainly grey chalcedony with inclusions of natrolite crystals and calcite. Some of the samples in the photos show agate grading into pale amethyst. I have been fortunate to have had guided trips in by the Marlborough Rock and Mineral club using four wheel drives. These excursions are not for the faint hearted.
I have some very nice faceted stones for sale, now listed in the "For Sale" section: Silver topaz, labradorite (golden sunstone), aquamarine, pink zircons, tanzanite, honey zircon, chrome diopside, peridot (including some 3mm pairs for making ear studs.) Inquiries are welcome (use the Contact page).
